LIQUID PARAFFIN + MILK OF MAGNESIA + SODIUM PICOSULPHATE suspension is a combined laxative used to relieve constipation. Each of these components works differently to help clear the bowel effectively.

Composition and Purpose:

1. Liquid Paraffin

   • A lubricant laxative

   • Softens stool and lubricates the intestine, making bowel movement easier.

2. Milk of Magnesia (Magnesium Hydroxide)

   • An osmotic laxative

   • Draws water into the intestines, softening the stool and stimulating bowel movements.

3. Sodium Picosulphate

   • A stimulant laxative

   • Stimulates the muscles in the bowel wall to contract, pushing stool through.

Uses:

• Relief of occasional constipation

• Bowel clearance before certain medical procedures (sometimes)

• Useful when stool softeners, lubricants, and stimulants are all needed

Dosage:

Dosage can vary, but common adult dose is:

• 5 to 15 mL at bedtime (or as prescribed by a doctor)

Always follow the doctor's prescription or the instructions on the label.

Side Effects:

• Abdominal cramps

• Diarrhea

• Nausea

• Electrolyte imbalance (if overused)

• Dependence with prolonged use

Precautions:

• Avoid long-term use without medical supervision

• Not recommended in intestinal obstruction, appendicitis, or undiagnosed abdominal pain

• Use cautiously in pregnant or breastfeeding women (only under medical advice)

• Ensure adequate hydration
